Photographs, given a place to live.

Since 2021, Orvelio® has brought the work of more than 40 artists into print. Books and magazines to hold and return to. Fine art prints to live with.

It started with a single book, and a search for art that could be held.

Making that first book showed how hard it is for photographers to bring their work into print. The costs were high and the process felt lonely. Orvelio® grew from there, as a publisher that stays close to the artist, from the first layout to the finished object.

Every collaboration since has followed that idea. The work stays slow and specific. Paper is chosen for how it carries an image. Layouts give photographs room. Each piece is made to be lived with.

Books and magazines

A photobook holds a body of work in sequence, paced like a film and meant to be turned slowly. The magazines gather many voices around one theme. New releases and collaborations are underway, among them new editions of earlier titles.

Some photographs ask for a wall.

A print lifts one image out of the sequence and gives it room. Above a desk, along a stair, in the quiet of a bedroom, it changes how a space feels and how it is lived in. Every Orvelio® print carries the name of the photographer who made it.

The quality of a print sits in its details. The surface of the paper, the bevel of the mat, the corner of the frame.

Cotton paper with a satin surface

Prints are made on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® Satin, a 310 gsm paper of 100% cotton, with pigment inks on an Epson SureColor P9570. The printed image takes on a soft sheen while the white margins stay matt. The paper is free of acid and lignin.

A mat that lifts out

Matted prints sit behind a bright white mat of 4 ply, acid free board. Its bevelled opening is cut about 3 mm smaller than the image, so the mat rests on the edges. The mat is loose in the frame, not glued, and the print beneath keeps its white paper border.

Size always names the sheet and the frame made to fit it. A matted print places a smaller image on the same sheet, in the same frame. Sizes in inches and centimetres

Solid oak or slim metal, with real glass

Premium Oak comes in Natural, Black, White and Walnut, with a 1.8 × 2.6 cm moulding. Premium Metal comes in White, Black, Silver and Gold, with a 0.7 × 2.0 cm profile. Both are glazed with real glass, 1 to 2 mm thick.

Turnbuttons and a sawtooth hanger sit on the back. Framed prints arrive assembled and ready to hang; wall fixings are not included. Frames go up to 24 × 32 in in oak and 18 × 24 in in metal.

Packing and delivery

Orvelio's print partner prints, frames and packs each piece in one facility in Lexington, Kentucky, USA, and sends it with tracking. Production takes 1 to 4 business days. Delivery to Germany takes about 5 to 8 days after dispatch, within the United States 2 to 3.

Framed prints travel in a corrugated box with corner protectors and padding over the glass. Smaller unframed prints ship flat in a sleeve, larger ones rolled in a tube. Prints ship separately from books and magazines, and standalone frames are charged separately at checkout. Production and shipping

Living with a print

Handle unframed prints by the edges, as the surface marks easily. Keep them dry and away from damp walls, and store them flat between 10 and 30 °C. Clean the glass with a soft dry cloth, with any cleaner sprayed onto the cloth rather than the frame.
